After months of searching and trying on dresses, you can finally say that you’ve found your perfect wedding dress!

We understand how stressful it can be to find ‘The One’. But, it’s not over yet, now it’s time to find the bridesmaid dresses. Choosing bridesmaid dresses can be a harder choice than choosing your wedding gown. One thing to consider is how they will look with your chosen colour scheme.

This year we have seen a lot of Brides opting to have their colour scheme in line with, ‘Pantone’s Colour Of The Year 2019 – Living Coral’. It’s vibrant, yet mellow, which means it has been perfect for co-ordinating bridesmaid dress and flower arrangements around it. Whilst ‘Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2020’ has not yet been released, it is rumoured that the chosen colour is going to be inspired by the sea. So think greys, pale greens, blues and turquoise.

Another thing to consider is how your bridesmaid dresses will look next to your wedding gown. This all depends on the style and material of the dress you have chosen. Whilst you want to choose dresses that will work with your dress, you don’t want their dresses to match yours too closely. If you choose dresses that are a similar style to your wedding dress you won’t stand out.
Here are some top tips for how to match your bridesmaid dresses for your wedding dress without them overshadowing your wedding dress.

• Choose a Different Neckline – When choosing your bridesmaid dresses, make sure you choose dresses with a different neckline to your wedding dress. For example, if you’ve chosen a single strapped wedding dress, choose a strapless or halter neck dress for your bridesmaids.
• Choose Complimenting Fabrics – Don’t choose matching or similar fabrics. On your wedding day, you want your dress to stand out, having bridesmaid dresses that are made from a similar fabric could make your dress blend in. If your wedding gown is made from a satin or silk material, maybe opt for a chiffon or lace fabric for your bridesmaid dresses. Likewise, if you have a lace wedding dress, opt for silk bridesmaid dresses.
• The Detailing – Sometimes, it can be nice to co-ordinate your bridesmaid dresses with your wedding gown by having had similar accessories. For example, you could jewelled belt with your wedding dress and your bridesmaids could have a smaller, similar-looking jewelled belt. This can really tie your look together.

The important thing to remember is that the bridesmaid dresses are the frame and your wedding dress is the beautiful image that will capture everyone’s attention. Don’t rush into buying dresses, take your time and look around. You will find the ideal bridesmaid dresses to go with your dress!
